Revenge, glory, adventure, even the humble coin have all been named as the reason they roam the Isles of Jwar lending their skills and sword arm to those who need it.
A few prefer to contract their skills to those whom they perceive to be of good faith, while for others, the stain of a less than reputable alliance is nothing that can’t be washed off...just like their enemies' blood.
